A treat not only for Japan lovers. On its second album, the five-member Berlin ensemble presents the music of the traditional three-stringed tsugaru shamisen in a never-before-heard guise. In accordance with the album title "In Between", it plays and sings newly interpreted Japanese folk songs as well as its own compositions. The three shamisen plus double bass and percussion result in an irresistible mixture of eastern and western music. ep
